Relying on God’s Word

Sometimes as believers we get caught up in what’s going on around us. We get so busy with life, parenthood, marriage, and work that we fail to spend the necessary time with God. We know that our relationship with God is not where it needs to be because we haven’t prayed on a continuous basis, we haven’t opened up the word in a while, and the things of this world start to take a toll on our minds, hearts, and souls. So, the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy because we are weak. I found myself here a few times where my spiritual tank was low on fumes so my mind and heart became the enemy’s battlefield.

But I thank God there’s hope. We have hope in Him. Jesus was a perfect example for us because he was tempted and tried in every area of life but he failed not. When the enemy came to Jesus, He told the enemy what the word says. So this is what we have to do as believers.

What does the word say…

When your mind is full of worldly thoughts, when your mind continue to reflect on your past and will not allow you to live down your mistakes, when your mind desires fleshly things…..the word says in 1 Corinthians 10:5 “We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and TAKE EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE to obey Christ,” also in Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the RENEWAL of your MIND, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

What does the word say…

When you feel like you’ve messed up so bad that you cannot talk to God, when you feel like you keep falling short, when you feel like you can’t stand…the word says in 1 John 1:9 “If we CONFESS our sins, HE is faithful and just to FORGIVE US our SINS and to CLENSE us from all unrighteousness. Also, in Ephesians 6:13 “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, YOU MAY be able to STAND your ground, and after you have done everything, TO STAND. We have to keep standing because God knows our help comes from him.

What does the word say…

When you are experiencing sickness in your body, when the report from the doctor is not a good one…the word says in Isaiah 53: 5 “5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes WE ARE HEALED.” Also, an amazing example happened in Luke. Luke 8:50 says “Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just BELIEVE, and SHE will be HEALED.”

What does the word say…

When your marriage has hit a rough spot and it seems like it’s not working, when you feel like you want to give up on your spouse, when you feel like your spouse is not loving you, honoring you, or communicating with you…the word says “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”- 1 Peter 4:8

In Ephesians 5:24-25 “Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word.”

Lastly, the word says “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”- Mark 10:9

What does the word say…

When your children are disobedient, rebellious, and you feel they have turned away from God…the word says in Prov 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Also in,
Prov 29:17 “Discipline your children, and they will give you peace; they will bring you the delights you desire.” Lastly if you read the parable about the prodigal son, it will encourage you. (See Luke 15:11-32)

What does the word say…

When your finances are low and you feel as if you can’t get a break….the word says in Matthew 6:33 “But SEEK FIRST the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and ALL these things will be ADDED to you. Also in Philippians 4:19 “And my God WILL SUPPLY EVERY NEED of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

I admonish you that it is all in the word of God. The word tell us what we can do to get through every situation life throws at us. You have to take a break from everything and hide in the secret place of the most high. You have to take a break and read scriptures that applies to your situation. You have to take a break and worship & thank God for the things He has done. Do not focus all your attention on what doesn’t seem right. It is at those moment, you will find help, you will be strengthened, and you will find endurance to continue your journey. God has you!
